แม้ฮอลลีวูดมักจะถูกค่อนแคะว่า เอาหนังของชาติอื่นมารีเมกทีไร ไม่เคยทำได้ดีเทียบเท่าต้นฉบับ แต่สำหรับ Shall We Dance? อาจแตกต่างออกไป เนื่องจากผู้ที่มารับผิดชอบ 2 หน้าที่สำคัญ คือ กำกับ และเขียนบทนั้น มีเครดิตเก่าที่น่าจะเรียกได้ว่า "ไว้ใจได้" ทีเดียว

ผู้กำกับ Shall We Dance? ฉบับอเมริกัน คือ ปีเตอร์ เชลซัม ซึ่งผลงานก่อนหน้านี้ก็คือ Serendipity หนังรักหวานแหววแต่ไม่น้ำเน่า ที่มี จอห์น คูแซก กับ เคต เบกคินเซล แสดงนำ ส่วนคนเขียนบทก็คือ ออเดรย์ เวลส์ ที่เคยฝากฝีมือไว้กับหนังโรแมนติกคอมเมดีสุดน่ารักอย่าง The Truth About Cats and Dogs

Shall We Dance? ฉบับดั้งเดิมคือผลงานกำกับและเขียนบทของ มาซายูกิ ซูโอะ เป็นโรแมนติกคอมเมดีที่สนุกสนานและน่ารักเอามากๆ ถึงกับเคยขึ้นแท่นครองตำแหน่งหนังญี่ปุ่นที่ทำเงินสูงสุดในอเมริกามาแล้ว (ทำรายได้ไปร่วมๆ 10 ล้านดอลลาร์)

ส่วนที่ญี่ปุ่นเอง หนังก็ได้รับเสียงวิจารณ์บวกสุดขั้ว กวาดรางวัลจากสถาบันภาพยนตร์ญี่ปุ่นไปถึง 13 ตัว (จากการเข้าชิง 14) เลยทีเดียว

เนื้อหาคร่าวๆ ของหนัง (ทั้ง 2 เวอร์ชัน) เล่าถึงชายคนหนึ่งซึ่งกำลังประสบภาวะวิกฤติวัยกลางคน วันหนึ่งบังเอิญไปเห็นหญิงสาวสวยเฉียบขาดคนหนึ่งเป็นอาจารย์สอนเต้นรำ จึงตัดสินใจเข้าเรียนในคอร์สนั้น เพราะหวังว่าการจีบครูอาจทำให้หายเบื่อได้ สิ่งที่พระเอกของเราคาดไม่ถึงก็คือ การเข้าเรียนเต้นรำในครั้งนี้จะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นที่นำพาเขาไปสู่ความ "เข้าใจชีวิต"

จุดเด่นของ Shall We Dance? ฉบับฮอลลีวูด นอกจากจะอยู่ที่การได้เค้าโครงเรื่องเดิมที่ดีเป็นทุนอยู่แล้ว และผู้กำกับกับคนเขียนบทที่มีฝีมือ ยังอยู่ที่นักแสดงนำฝีมือดีทั้งสาม คือ ริชาร์ด เกียร์, เจนนิเฟอร์ โลเปซ และ ซูซาน ซาแรนดอน

John Clark is a man with a wonderful job, a charming wife and a loving family, who nevertheless feels that something is missing as he makes his way every day through the city. Each evening on his commute home, John sees a beautiful woman, staring with a lost expression through the window of a dance studio. Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train one night, and signs up for dance lessons, hoping to meet her. At first, it seems like a mistake. His teacher turns out to be not Paulina, but the older Miss Mitzi, and John proves just as clumsy as his equally clueless classmates on the dance-floor. Even worse, when he does meet Paulina, she icily tells John she hopes he has come to the studio to seriously study dance and not to look for a date. But, as his lessons continue, John falls in love with dancing. Keeping his new obsession from his family and co-workers, John feverishly trains for Chicago's biggest dance competition. His friendship with Paulina blossoms, as his enthusiasm rekindles her own lost passion for dance. But the more time John spends away from home, the more his wife becomes suspicious. With his secret about to be revealed, John will have to do some fancy footwork to keep his dream going and realize what it is he really yearns for.
