Hana-bi (1997)
Hana-bi is the other outstanding work of
Kitano, its presenting method, story, and
main emotion has been praised to be similar
to Sonatine.
This movie is about Detective Nishi, the
cop whose subordinate had been died while
seizing convicts and his best friend also
been shot and became paralyzed. (His wife
also left and caused him almost suicide.)
Moreover, Nishi's wife got the very bad ill
that cannot be cured and had less time left
while he was chased by Yakuza all the time.
The way he chose to solve all these problems
is bank robbing. Then he gave one part of
the money to his crippled friend and used
the other for taking his wife for the last
pleasure. Everything looked beautiful as the
sparkling of fireworks ( Hana- bi literally
means fireworks) before disappeared totally
except darkness.
Hana-bi includes all unique characteristics
of Kitano's film whether amusement, sharp
and impulsive action scene, warm atmosphere,
lonely environment heart shaking clue or reflection
of pain stuck in both law keeping size and
law breaking size.

และมีชีวิตอยู่ดูโลกได้อีกเพียงแค่ไม่นาน ขณะที่ตัวเขาเองก็โดนพวกยากูซ่ารบเร้าติดตามทวงหนี้อยู่ตลอดเวลา
เพื่อสะสางแก้ไขปัญหาต่าง ๆ ตำรวจหนุ่มใหญ่จึงตัดสินใจลงมือปล้นธนาคาร
และนำเงินก้อนใหญ่ที่ได้มา ส่วนหนึ่งมอบให้แก่เพื่อนผู้พิการ
อีกส่วนหนึ่งเขาใช้มันหมดไปในการพาภรรยาไปเที่ยวพักผ่อนหย่อนใจ
เป็นความรื่นรมย์ครั้งสุดท้าย ซึ่งอบอุ่น สวยงาม
ราวกับประกายเจิดจ้าของ "ดอกไม้ไฟ"
ก่อนที่ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างจะวูบหายไปเหลือเพียงแค่ความมืดมิด
Hana-bi รวบรวมเอาลักษณะเด่น ๆ ในหนังของคิทาโนเอาไว้ครบถ้วน
ตั้งแต่อารมณ์ขันน่ารัก ๆ ฉากต่อสู้ที่เฉียบขาดรุนแรง
บรรยากาศอบอุ่น เปลี่ยวเหงา สะเทือนใจ รวมทั้งการสะท้อนถึงความเจ็บปวดของบรรดาตัวละครทั้งในฝ่ายของผู้รักษากฎหมายและมิจฉาชีพ
