This time, we have 4 good films from 3 directors from Middle-east and a Thai director Yuthana Mookdasanid with his masterpiece Butterfly and flowers (1986).
Let us introduce you the new face of young directors who are only 10 years old!
Their short films are available only in this festival.

เมื่อโรงเรียนเลิก เด็กๆทุกคนเดินทางกลับบ้าน ยกเว้น มินาที่รอให้แม่มารับแต่แม่ก็ไม่มา เมื่อเธอโทรศัพท์ไปก็ไม่มีใคร อยู่บ้าน จนเด็กหญิงตัวน้อยตัดสินใจกลับบ้านเอง เมื่อนั้นการเดินทางครั้งสำคัญจึงเริ่มต้นขึ้น อันที่จริงเธอจะรู้จักทางกลับบ้านก็เมื่อมีแม่เดินนำหน้า รถคันไหนล่ะที่ควรขึ้น ? ที่ไหนล่ะที่ควรลง ? ทั้งหมดนี้กลายเป็นเรื่องปริศนาสำหรับเธอ และดูเหมือนบรรดาผู้ใหญ่รอบข้างก็ช่วย อะไรไม่ได้สักนิด

Iranian director Jafar Panahi tells the story of Mina (Aida Mohammadkhani), a grade schooler whose mother has not to come pick her up this afternoon. Her teacher is busy talking to other adults. Nobody answers the phone at her house. She is alone and scared without anyone to get her home.
At about the halfway point, Mina is on a bus, staring into the camera. A voice says "Mina, don't look into the camera." After a tense moment, Mina breaks down, angry and upset, and says "I don't want to act anymore."
At this point, the cameras keep rolling as a crew member follows Mina off the bus to comfort and reassure her. Others are sent with different tactics to try to convince Mina to continue acting, but she refuses. She just wants to go home to her mother.

In the 1970s, the Turkish Republic was a country in great social and political upheaval, and its gargantuan neighbour, the Soviet Union , was a constant source of fear and paranoia. Turkish Communists and anyone else deemed an "other were watched closely by the government. Intolerance and suspicion reigned supreme. This atmosphere was especially intense in Turkey 's north-eastern region which includes the Black Sea city of Trabzon , only a few hundred kilometres from the border with Soviet Georgia.
What is a homeland? Who is a foreigner? These thorny questions of identity and nationalism, played out through Ayhse's long and tragic life and the region's beautifully eerie landscapes, from the swirling mists of the Black Sea to the low-lying clouds of its surrounding mountains, will provide a rich backdrop in which long-held secrets may finally filter into the light from one of history's darker corners

Turtles can fly (Iran/2004)

Bahman Ghobadi was directing a brief underwater sequence for Turtles Can Fly when a turtle glided across his field of view, its tiny appendages flapping swiftly but effortlessly, carrying the great weight of its shell. He thought how much that turtle reminded him of his people, the Kurds.
In Turtles Can Fly , we meet two survivors, Hengoa, an armless teenager, and Agrin, his sister, who was raped by soldiers during the attack. A blind, lachrymose toddler who clings to Agrin is the child of that rape. The three have settled temporarily in a village where Satellite, the head of a ragtag group of impoverished children, named for his talent for procuring and installing the dishes, is pressed into making a deal. He spies Agrin and falls in love with her.

Butterfly and flowers (Thai/1986)

1 of the best Thai film you couldn't miss. Butterfly and Flower (Peesua lae Dokmai) , drawn from a popular Thai novel of the time (1986), highlighted the hardships faced by a boy who works selling popsicles at the local train station forced by economic circumstance to smuggle rice across the Thai-Malaysian border. Aside from exposing Thai audiences to regional poverty, the 1985 movie broke new ground by portraying a Buddhist-Muslim romance. Butterfly and Flower delighted the Thai public when it earned a Best Film award at the 1986 East-West Film Festival in Honolulu .
